Runners mark 25 years since 9/11 attacks with NYRR Central Park race

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Thousands of runners came together to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on Saturday.

New York Road Runners teamed up with the 9/11 Memorial & Museum for a 4M race to mark the solemn anniversary in Central Park.

The race brought together almost 5,000 people to remember the nearly 3,000 people killed.

The race also honored the service of all who stepped in to help New York City recover and rebuild.

All funds raised from the race will support the 9/11 Memorial and Museum's educational programs and keep the memorial free for visitors.

Nina Pineda spoke with runners in the park.
